The past year has been a busy and rewarding one at the McQuarrie Memorial Museum. Our 2025–2026 Annual Report highlights the work of our volunteers, the support of our community, and our ongoing commitment to preserving and sharing the history of Washington County and Southern Utah.
A Year of Preservation and Service
During the 2025–2026 year, we welcomed 8,193 visitors, including 5,183 visitors from outside Washington County. Our visitors represented 128 states and/or countries, and we welcomed 457 participants through group tours.
We also completed several important improvements to the Museum, including a new roof, updated interior and exterior signage, new display cases, improvements to our doll collection exhibit, and a new display featuring artifacts from the historic St. George Drug Company.
Our educational outreach continued through special tours, group visits, presentations, monthly Third Weekend events, and docent training. We also expanded accessibility by adding Spanish translations for some of our most important artifacts and Museum stories.
Looking Ahead
The Museum is already looking toward another year of growth and improvement. Plans for 2026–2027 include expanded exhibit information, new displays, improved meeting room technology, updated docent training resources, and continued efforts to make the Museum's collections and stories accessible to more visitors.
We are especially grateful for the approximately 200 docents from four Daughters of Utah Pioneers companies in Washington County who volunteer their time and talents throughout the year. Their service allows us to keep the Museum open to the public, welcome visitors, lead tours, and share the stories and artifacts of Southern Utah.
We are also deeply grateful for the generosity of our community through grants, private funding, donations, and other support. Together, this generosity and the dedication of our volunteers make it possible for the McQuarrie Memorial Museum to preserve and share local history while offering free admission to the public.
