If you missed our April Third Weekend Event, you can now watch the full presentation, “Late Victorian to Pioneer Fashions,” presented by Dixie D. Miller at the McQuarrie Memorial Pioneer Museum.
Dixie Miller brought history to life as she shared her knowledge and passion for Victorian-era clothing, exploring how fashion evolved from the late 1800s into the pioneer period.
👒 A Passion for History & Fashion
Dixie’s love of history and genealogy began with stories from her grandmother about early pioneers. Over the years, she has combined that passion with hands-on research—creating porcelain dolls and designing historically accurate Victorian clothing.
Her experience with historical costuming, including participation in cowboy action shooting events, has deepened her understanding of how clothing was worn and experienced in the past.
🧵 Fashion as a Reflection of Life
During the presentation, Dixie explained how clothing reflected social expectations, lifestyle, and identity. From structured silhouettes to detailed accessories, Victorian fashion tells a story not only of style, but of daily life and cultural values.
Her presentation also connects beautifully with the museum’s exhibits—including a new doll display she has helped bring to life.
