As part of the 125th anniversary of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, we are sharing stories from the individual companies whose dedication continues to preserve Utah’s pioneer heritage. We begin with the Washington Company, whose members gathered for a Jubilee celebration on April 30, 2025.
The Washington Company Jubilee was a time of fellowship, reflection, and gratitude. Members from Dixie Camp and the Washington Company came together to recognize years of service, leadership transitions, and a shared commitment to preserving pioneer history.
During the Jubilee, Linda Lees, outgoing President of the Washington Company, was honored for her leadership, and Kayleen Potter was installed as the new President. The newly elected officers officially began their service in June 2025:
Kayleen Potter, President
Nancy Carlton, 2nd Vice President
DeAnn Jones, Treasurer
Marolyn Van Wagenen, Registrar
Louise Oliekan, Historian
A special moment of the celebration included recognizing Marie Rice for 40 years of membership in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers—an inspiring example of dedication and lifelong service.
The Jubilee also honored the Captains of the Washington Company who served during the 2024–2025 year, acknowledging their leadership and service.
For 125 years, the Daughters of Utah Pioneers has preserved family histories, artifacts, and stories that connect generations. The Washington Company’s Jubilee reflects the heart of this work—service, remembrance, and community.
