Washington West Company of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers

As part of the 125-year celebration of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, we are highlighting the Companies in Washington County who continue the mission of preserving pioneer history. This week, we feature the Washington West Company and their recent Jubilee celebration.

On February 18, 2026, members of the Washington West Company gathered at the Mulberry Chapel in Bloomington to celebrate both the 125th anniversary of the DUP and the 225th birthday of Brigham Young.

The Jubilee began with a welcome from Company President Helen Furr, followed by an opening prayer and inspiring historical reflections. Members joined together in singing “The Daughters of the Utah Pioneers,” accompanied by live music, and enjoyed a delicious lunch hosted by the Bloomington Camp.

A meaningful part of the celebration was the recognition of long-time members for their years of service. Among those honored was Marcia Garner of the Bloomington Camp, recognized for an impressive 55 years of membership in the organization—a testament to a lifetime of dedication to preserving pioneer heritage.

The program concluded with a presentation on the founding of the DUP by Anne Maria Ballantyne Hyde, along with stories about Brigham Young, and a musical tribute performed by members of the Bloomington Camp.

These gatherings reflect the heart of the Washington West Company—service, fellowship, and a shared commitment to honoring the legacy of the pioneers.

We are also grateful for the leadership of the Washington West Company board members, who continue to guide and support these efforts.
